  1. Verify the monitor is properly connected to the computer. The blue VGA port on back does not work have the user connect a different cable either DVI, HDMI, or DisplayPort to the monitor and the computer. Have the user do a complete reboot on the system by holding the power button for 5 seconds. Once the computer is off, press the power button to start back up. If there is still no display proceed to step 2.
  2. Turn off the computer and test the monitor on another computer that is powered on and working (if available). If the monitor doesn’t work have them try a different monitor on the other computer. If it works, connect the working monitor to the computer. Power on the computer. If still no display, then proceed to step 3.
  3. Verify that all the fans on the computer are spinning. Center CPU fan, Graphics card fan. If any one of these fans are not spinning, please put in a ticket. If all the fans are spinning proceed to step 4.
  4. Do the following:
    • Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
    • Open the computer case. (Remove the thumbscrews on each corner and remove the clear panel)
    • Locate the button cell battery on the motherboard.
    • Unplug the battery on the motherboard, then short-circuit the positive/negative terminal of the battery holder, and then re-install the battery. (flip the battery over and hold it on the metal piece for a few seconds then reconnect the battery as pictured)
    • Reconnect the power and turn on the computer.

If the computer still shows no display, proceed to power off the computer and unplug the power cord.  With the side panel still off re-seat everything inside the computer (any cords that are connected and verify the graphics card is connected and seated properly (See section checking the video card seating) make sure the ram is connected and seated). If none of these steps work, please put in a ticket.

Checking the video card seating

If you have just received your new computer and you are experiencing display issues or graphical errors, there is a chance that your graphics card might have come loose during shipping. This is fairly uncommon, however, it’s always best to double check to ensure your components are properly connected.

  1. First, ensure that your PC is not powered on and power cord is unplugged.
  2. Disconnect the monitor connector/s from the graphics card.
  3. Remove the computer’s clear side panel to get access to the internal components of the PC.

Identify the video card. Figure 1.

    • Discreet add-on video cards (graphics card / GPU) are generally large and most of the time have one or more fans attached to it.
  1. Look for visible damage, if there is damage submit a ticket.

Place your thumbs on the edge of the graphics card and align them with the ends of the PCI slot on the motherboard and firmly push it towards the motherboard. Figure 2.

7. Ensure that the PCI slot lock is in the locked position.

8. Check that the video card is tightly screwed to the case.

9. Check that the power cables connected to the GPU are tight and secure.

    • Not all video cards will need power, look for power connection ports to determine if your video card requires power.
